Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Must I start every blog with an excuse as to why I haven't blogged in a while...well, this being my blog I get to make the rules...so I think I shall pass this time :)

Life is about to become even more crazy than it has been this last month. I have enjoyed my time of "reprieve" in that I have been able to stay at home and see what it's really like to be a SAHM as I have been wanting for such a long time. And I must say that I LOVE IT...but, some things just aren't meant to be forever. Or are they?

I leave for a whole week for the Nat'l Worship Leader Conference in Austin TX. I'm very excited as there will be MANY awesome worship leaders (such as Paul Baloche, Big Daddy Weave, Mac Powell, Brenton Brown...I could go on and on)...I think Mike has really gotten used to me being home full time and doesn't really realize it...yet...he will next week...I expect MUCH thanks and gratitude when I get home :)

Starting in August, I will be advertising my new business. I am FINALLY starting my own music school. This has always been a dream of mine, and maybe this is why things have gone the way they have in the past several months. Maybe I needed this shove in the right direction...who knows...

So as soon as I get back from my trip, I will start advertising for piano, voice, and music lessons. I'm really excited as I have worked out my schedule that I can take the boys to school, come home and teach for two hours, eat lunch, teach for another hour, go pick up the boys from school, come home and spend time with them for a couple of hours (do homework with Ryley) teach for a couple more hours and be done for the day. This also works out (in theory) for after the baby is born I won't be working for more than 2 hour time slots so I'll still be able to nurse/pump (some days he may have to spend at a sitters, but that's okay)...So this is my PLAN...and WITH this plan I can theoretically fit 36 students in a week. And I can make my schedule how I want it. I couldn't ask for a better "part-time" job...

Mike's job seems to be going well, but it will be a while before he's making enough to fully support us. Which is completely fine, b/c he is SOOOOOO happy. I would trade all the money in the world for him to come home happy every day. It makes me WANT to keep the house clean for him b/c I really feel like he now notices and really thanks me for what I do around here...and for us that is no small thing...heh

So after my trip next week, it will be time to put my feet to the pavement and get my name out there. I have several wonderful friends who have already told me they would help me out by hanging flyers in their offices, churches, etc. I've never had problems getting students before, but this is on a whole new level as I have never run it as a business before...just having a few students in my home...now to rethink my whole music corner...expect to see some before and after posts on that...I have some ideas but it should be rather interesting, especially once we start converting our garage into a bedroom for the boys...heh

Well, I guess that's all for now. I've promised to take the boys to the park before the afternoon thunderstorms startup. As my dear Nattie would say...TTFN!!!!!11

Congrats on your music school! But I hope you can continue to be a stay-at-home-mom.
